afterlove - discussion (book club)

Question:
 Since my book is on its way, I am going to open this thread & pose my questions for discussion (what can I say, I'm bored!). For those of you who haven't read the book and you don't want any spoliers, don't read beyond this post.

Answer:
 Please feel free to add your own comments and questions to the mix. What did you think of the book? Here are a bunch of mine to start us off...
1.) If you lost your entire family like Kate did, do you think you would react the same way?
2.) Do you think you would ever go on a quest to communicate with your loved one's who have crossed over?
3.) Do you believe in an afterlife where it's possible that the departed can communicate with the living?
4.) What do you think the author meant in the book when Kate's kids, Chloe & Tim weren't ready or able to communicate with their mother? Do you think there was more to it than them not being able to deal with their mother's pain?
5.) Do you believe that Kate's settlement with the city was fair? Would you have done something similiar or do you think she was insane for asking for what she did?
6.) Do you believe that Gabriel had a true gift or do you think that Kate saw what she chose to believe?
7.) Do you think it was too soon for Kate to get involved with another man?
8.) When Gabriel told Kate that it was all a lie and that he was a fraud, did you ever doubt him?
9.) Could you have fallen for a man like Gabriel, under the circumstances?
10.) Do you think that the discovery of the lost earring on Kate's last night in her house was divinely sent by Jim somehow?
11.) Do you consider the fact that Kate suddenly lost one of her "lucky" earrings a lucky or an unlucky occurrence? Was it lucky since it didn't put her in that car the morning of the accident therefore, not losing her own life?
12.) Were the characters believable? Did anyone picure John Edward (the psychic, not the Presidential hopeful) in their head as Gabriel?
13.) Anyone want to share a story of a time they either tried to communicate with a dearly departed one through a medium, or had an experience you think was a message from the other side on your own?
14.) Anyone believe this is just a crock of crap? (ok, couldn't end it on #13, had to come up with something else!!)
