Beebee, Ark. Dogs to be euth'd-Look at Itchy, Ace and Mocha..

Question:
Poor Itchy has been through so much with his mange that is now cured but with no rescue to go to he will be put to sleep on Monday, Oct. 1st.
Ace is still in boarding but needs $ for his follow up visits for his eye.
Poor Mocha-Choc. Lab X-No rescue wants her either.
This is so VERY SAD!!
UPDATED SATURDAY MORNING, September 29, 2007 - URGENT BULLETIN - NONE of the leftovers on this page have received as much as one inquiry. NOT GOOD. Bounce was returned to the list due to a gender error (he's a she). ACO waited until yesterday to inform us that he has EIGHTEEN dogs total at the shelter -- always a dangerous situation for the dogs in this primarily OPEN, shanty shack of a landfill shelter, as regular readers well know. There are less than 8 secure pens at this shelter and each is only fit for one medium large dog at a time, meaning the majority of these dogs have been placed together in the yard. I know NOTHING about the new overflow --breed, character, etc. We had five head out of the local kennel in transit to rescue, freeing up space for new boards but we have no new tags. We also have several IN boarding for safe keeping that do not have rescue and are not subsidized. I am not sure what else to say here, all. Either we get the ones below pulled out WITH a rescue tag by Monday or this particular plea with be the first of a sinking ship. I will have no choice but to tell Horace to begin euthanizing on Monday. The high numbers make the shelter an absolutely treacherous place for them to be.
-------------->END UPDATE
The Beebe Municipal Shelter dogs below are already in urgent status. These dogs MUST ACQUIRE A 501c3 RESCUE COMMITMENT Sunday night, 29 Sep, 2007 so we can PULL BY MONDAY or WILL BE EUTHED due to overcrowding in an OPEN YARD SETTING. NOT SAFE NOW IN THIS SETTING Note that there will be several additions that will follow as soon as I receive photos and details. NOT all details with respect to gender or age are available at this time. Volunteers are due to visit the shelter on Monday to help fill in the blanks. Regardless, these dogs are only part of Beebe AC's latest population spike and MUST find immediate rescue. Euthanization commences on Monday, October 1, 2007. There are 18 dogs at this shelter. Again, this is a DANGEROUS SITUATION for the dogs in this shanty shelter. I cannot stress this enough.
Beebe Animal Control is a relatively unknown shelter in a small town north of Little Rock, Arkansas. Dogs are hidden away in a relatively remote, older location, surrounded by what used to be the city's landfill. There are a few cages and a communal yard located at this shelter. Overpopulation puts all dogs in danger -- with or without a euth date. As a matter of fact, the shelter is, quite literally, located on LANDFILL DRIVE. Dogs at Beebe AC have little, if any chance of adoption. They need your rescue help and they need it now!
Currently, there is NO Web site for Beebe AC nor will their be until city policy regarding adoption is modified.
Unless already on file, proof of 501c3 rescue is required and must be faxed in to Beebe AC no later than the evening prior to a dog's pre-scheduled pull date. The TAG to reserve and PULL process is as follows:
Step 1: You may contact either of the following individuals to confirm intent to rescue:
E-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com OR Jaxie at Beebe Humane Society BeebeHumaneSoc@aol.com. Please DO NOT call Horace at the shelter. He is busy enough as it is and will refer you directly back to Joy or Jaxie. Phone calls to ACO only slow the rescue facilitation process down and cause confusion. Horace depends on the rescue facilitation group to acquire rescue.
Step 2: Once confirmation of intent is received, instructions and additional documentation will be sent to you for faxing to ACO Horace at the City of Beebe.
Step 3: Once your 501c3 materials are received, local rescues may arrange to drive out and pull their dogs. Out of state rescues will receive pull and transport assistance, courtesy of Horace and other volunteers, to select vet/kennel facilities for dogs temporary boarding and preparatory vetting prior to transport. More information on the process and price is available by e-mailing humane_teens@yahoo.com
LOCAL RESCUES - PLEASE TAKE NOTE - Direct pulls by local rescues must be pre-scheduled by Joy or Jaxie. In recent months, numerous individuals have bypassed protocol and attempted to pull dogs without pre-authorization and or contacted ACO by phone to attempt to expedite the process. Some were not authorized by any specific rescue, although passing themselves off as rescue. This has caused myriad internal problems with the rescue facilitation process. As a result, ACO Horace has stipulated that he must hear speak by phone or in person to core members of OUR volunteer group before allowing ANY local rescue to pull. Please respect the fact that this new policy has been put in place to ensure the Beebe dogs are in integral hands upon release . Following protocol by e-mailing Joy or Jaxie rather than bypassing us with phone calls to the ACO will expedite your request to pull.
We apologize but at this time, we are unable to sponsor direct, out-of-state adoptions. We have no safety net available for our dogs in the event an adoption situation does not work out. If you are an individual specifically interested in adopting one of the urgent dogs below, please find a rescue local to YOUR area that will sponsor you by making a rescue commitment and facilitating the adoption.
The majority of our rescue activity is out-of-state. We are DESPERATE for sponsorship $$$ on these dogs and various costs are incurred from the time a dog is tagged for rescue and actually transported and delivered TO rescue. Beebe, AR is rurally located and part of the statistical plight of all southern dogs. Rescued dogs are usually headed out of state and require temporary boarding and vetting prior to transport. The standard and average cost of vetting and temporary boarding post-pull and pre-transport is $175 per dog, without any "surprise" costs incurred for covering health issues. (this does not include the higher, vet quality items for flea & tick treatment or hookworms--these items can be purchased at the receiving rescue's request). Non-profit rescues depend on your donations to make miracles happen with these dogs. To pledge a donation or learn more about how regarding how to sponsor a Beebe urgent dog, please e-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com for more information!
If you are interested in providing sponsorship funds for these dogs, please make contact immediately. Your $$$ donation offers improve every dogs chance of finding rescue and avoiding euthanization!
Additional donations to the Beebe Rescue Facilitation ARE NEEDED by this group to cover TEMP BOARDING, supplies, medical and incidentals (we have A LOT of incidentals) can be made by going to http://www.ruraldogs.org
OUT OF STATE, 501c3 RESCUE - TRANSPORT ASSISTANCE
We have no funding other than what is stated above to subsidize the rescue of the dogs below. Volunteer powered transport assistance is available to Midwest and Northern state rescues. "Puppy Bus" -paid transport is available to East Coast rescues. Contact Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com for more details regarding transport assistance.
Randy - Male Basset Hound X
MUST ACQUIRE A 501c3 RESCUE COMMITMENT Sunday night, 29 Sep, 2007 so we can PULL BY MONDAY or WILL BE EUTHED due to overcrowding in an OPEN YARD SETTING. NOT SAFE NOW IN THIS SETTING.
DETAILS RECEIVED:Owner signover. Friendly and fully vetted. Confirmed as HW negative. Male. Dog social. Three years old and a major sweetheart. We have acquired vet records and a vague history on this boy, formerly labeled "Second" at the shelter. Randy (who knows his name quite well and will fall over himself with glee when you call him) was originally adopted from the Memphis Municipal Animal Shelter. Record envelope has several names scribbled out on it. He's too good to be moved around like this. Needs a rescue that will DEFINITELY help him find a PERMANENT HOME. Loves kids.
Paris - Mystery X
MUST ACQUIRE A 501c3 RESCUE COMMITMENT Sunday night, 29 Sep, 2007 so we can PULL BY MONDAY or WILL BE EUTHED due to overcrowding in an OPEN YARD SETTING. NOT SAFE NOW IN THIS SETTING.
Details from Volunteer L.Wyant - This is Paris. She is a small dog, approximately 20lbs. She is not laid back by any means, but she isn't too energetic either. Paris likes to sit in the background and watch all of the other dogs get pet while she observes just hoping you will catch a glimpse of her. When she knows shes in your eyesight, nothing can hold her energy back and she just trembles at the thought that you might pet her too. She is shy, but not timid.
Osker - Bully X
MUST ACQUIRE A 501c3 RESCUE COMMITMENT Sunday night, 29 Sep, 2007 so we can PULL BY MONDAY or WILL BE EUTHED due to overcrowding in an OPEN YARD SETTING. NOT SAFE NOW IN THIS SETTING
Details from Volunteer L.Wyant - This is Osker. He looks to be a pocket pit, and it doesn't seem he is going to get a lot bigger than he already is. He loves to have attention and give licks, but he isn't the dog that is going to jump up on you and demand it. He is very low key and will only come to you for attention when he knows that you are paying attention to just him. He is approximately 30-35lbs.
Mocha- Choco Lab X
MUST ACQUIRE A 501c3 RESCUE COMMITMENT Sunday night, 29 Sep, 2007 so we can PULL BY MONDAY or WILL BE EUTHED due to overcrowding in an OPEN YARD SETTING. NOT SAFE NOW IN THIS SETTING.
Details from Volunteer L.Wyant - This is Mocha. She is in heat so is being kept separate from the males. She is very timid and somewhat wild, but will be a really great dog when she is comfortable with her area. She is approximately 40lbs. Chocolate Lab Mix.
Athena - GSD/Spitz X
MUST ACQUIRE A 501c3 RESCUE COMMITMENT Sunday night, 29 Sep, 2007 so we can PULL BY MONDAY or WILL BE EUTHED due to overcrowding in an OPEN YARD SETTING. NOT SAFE NOW IN THIS SETTING.
Details from Volunteer L.Wyant - I named this female Athena after Apollo. She is a female, much smaller version of Apollo. She can jump very high and is pretty energetic for a minute or two and then she poops out. She's obviously pretty young. She does NOT like cats. A feral kitten that ACO Horace feeds made its way into the front large pen and if it wasn't for Athena not liking the water hose, this kitten would have been dinner for Athena. She even has the same markings (white paws) as Apollo (reference June 2007 post).
Rory - Mountain Feist X
Temp foster situation coming to a close. MUST SECURE A RESCUE COMMITMENT BY Monday, October 1, 2007
Details from Volunteer L.Wyant - This is Rory. She is at my house right now. She is very scared and extremely timid. She hasn't warmed up to Mickey & Tyson yet, it might take a few days. She is extremely submissive and will shake at just the sound of your voice. She loves to be held in my lap and to be pet. She has yet to bite, so I wouldn't even call her a fear biter. She is very dosile and will need a lot of love and care.
Ace - Black Lab X
Initial Vet Treatment Received. Transferred to local kennel for the next week while in recovery. Still needs donations for follow-up visits and boarding while in recovery. Details below. He will be UP for RESCUE once he receives a clean bill of health. Advanced reservations on this dog are WELCOMED!
Contrary to some of the urgent, cross-posts going around, Ace did not have his eye poked out. After his initial treatment at the vet, it was discerned that he had been mauled by another dog just prior to his arrival at the shelter. Damage to his eye socket, the tender tissue surrounding the eye and the interior of his mouth was apparent. Thanks to several generous donations, Ace was able to receive his initial treatment which included anesthetization and sutures. He will require several follow up visits as well as a minimum of two weeks in boarding (where he will receive personal care) prior to being put up for rescue.
We STILL NEED funding for Ace's follow-up visits and boarding.
Go to http://www.ruraldogs.org to donate by Paypal or Paper Check.
I have been informed that he is exceptionally sweet with adults, children and other dogs, and is referred to as a "talker." He falls asleep on your lap when he has his ears rubbed. He WILL climb a fence if given an opportunity. He appears to be somewhat potty trained as he will not defecate unless walked on a leash. It has been recently noted that Ace is an attention hog with people and will get jealous of other dogs when he isn't given a solo spotlight by the kennel director.
Bounce - Mystery X - Possible Feist Mix?
Not SAFE due to gender error. In emergency boarding (we could not bear to return him to the shelter) and needs boarding funds. MUST FIND RESCUE, receive initial vetting and BE in transit TO RESCUE by the weekend of October 6-7, 2007. The modestly sized boarding kennel CANNOT provide extended boarding. Space MUST be kept open for new urgents
DETAILS RECEIVED: High energy MALE lost rescue due to gender error at onset of post. Capable (and willing) to jump straight up in the air with little or no effort. Extremely friendly with people and dogs alike. Age estimation not undertaken. Still needs boarding $$$. We have a growing bill.

Itchy - Catahoula X
Had her mange and internal infection treatment sponsored, along with boarding during recovery. Now READY for rescue and no place to go! Original sponsor $$$ are GONE-MUST FIND IMMEDIATE RESCUE!
DETAILS RECEIVED:Supporters of Beebe AC's urgency pleas may remember poor Itchy from a mid-August post, as pictured below. It's hard to believe the blossoming girl above is one and the same. Itchy underwent treatment for Mange and a generalized blood infection. She has been at our local kennel for a month and is now ready for rescue. Her sponsor $$$ have run out and she is in immediate need of boarding $$$ to keep her temporarily safe while we seek rescue for her. She _cannot_ stay much longer. The kennel stays full with new urgents in preparation for rescue. Outside of worming and DHLPP, Itchy will need her spay and rabbies vaccinations at a minimum. Itchy's personality is 100% affable with dogs and people of all sizes and ages. She loves to play and she loves to BE LOVED. She will make a wonderful companion animal in any family setting. Itchy came so close to being euthanized due to her health and appearance but she made it through with flying colors. Let's keep it that way!
