Joy
End update ------------>
The City of Beebe municipal animal shelter is now over capacity. ALL DOGS featured on this list are considered urgent and must receive a rescue commitment by Sunday evening to avoid euthanization. All dogs must receive a 501c3 rescue commitment by Sunday, August 19, 2007. Euthanization WILL COMMENCE on Monday, August 20, 2007. Please review the entirety of this post in order to discern each dog's details and circumstances as well as prospective pull, vetting and transport assistance details for out of state rescues desiring to tag. Frequently asked questions are addressed in this post.
NOTE: ARKANSAS temperatures have increased to the high 90s / lower 100s with heat indexes in excess of 107 degrees. Humidity is more than moderate. Despite attempted cooling (box fans and, thanks to a sponsor who donated several window units), the non-insulated tin building these dogs reside in, coupled with the shelter yard, is truly BEYOND uncomfortable due to the frying pan temperatures. The sooner we can get the dogs out, the better. PLEASE help us get them out!
Please cross-post this plea far and wide! Thank you for your support!

Beebe Animal Control is a relatively unknown shelter in a small town north of Little Rock, Arkansas. Dogs are hidden away in a relatively remote, older location, surrounded by what used to be the city's landfill. There are a few cages and a communal yard located at this shelter. Overpopulation puts all dogs in danger -- with or without a euth date. As a matter of fact, the shelter is, quite literally, located on LANDFILL DRIVE. Dogs at Beebe AC have little, if any chance of adoption. They need your rescue help and they need it now! Currently, there is NO Web site for Beebe AC. I am still working with ACO to build the site.
Unless already on file, proof of 501c3 rescue is required and must be faxed in to Beebe AC no later than the evening prior to a dog's pre-scheduled pull date. The TAG to reserve and PULL process is as follows:
Step 1: You may contact either of the following individuals to confirm intent to rescue:
E-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com OR Jaxie at Beebe Humane Society BeebeHumaneSoc@aol.com. Please DO NOT call Horace at the shelter. He is busy enough as it is and will refer you directly back to Joy or Jaxie. Phone calls to ACO only slow the rescue facilitation process down and cause confusion. Horace depends on the rescue facilitation group to acquire rescue.
Step 2: Once confirmation of intent is received, instructions and additional documentation will be sent to you for faxing to ACO Horace at the City of Beebe.
Step 3: Once your 501c3 materials are received, local rescues may arrange to drive out and pull their dogs. Out of state rescues will receive pull and transport assistance, courtesy of Horace and other volunteers, to select vet/kennel facilities for dogs temporary boarding and preparatory vetting prior to transport. More information on the process and price is available by e-mailing humane_teens@yahoo.com
LOCAL RESCUES - PLEASE TAKE NOTE - Direct pulls by local rescues must be pre-scheduled by Joy or Jaxie. In recent months, numerous individuals have bypassed protocol and attempted to pull dogs without pre-authorization and or contacted ACO by phone to attempt to expedite the process. Some were not authorized by any specific rescue, although passing themselves off as rescue. This has caused myriad internal problems with the rescue facilitation process. As a result, ACO Horace has stipulated that he must hear speak by phone or in person to core members of OUR volunteer group before allowing ANY local rescue to pull. Please respect the fact that this new policy has been put in place to ensure the Beebe dogs are in integral hands upon release . Following protocol by e-mailing Joy or Jaxie rather than bypassing us with phone calls to the ACO will expedite your request to pull.
We are DESPERATE for sponsorship $$$ on these dogs! Beebe, AR is rurally located and part of the statistical plight of all southern dogs. The majority of rescue provided these dogs is exclusively out of state. Rescued dogs are usually headed out of state and require temporary boarding and vetting prior to transport. The standard and average cost of vetting and temporary boarding post-pull and pre-transport is $150 per dog, without any "surprise" costs incurred for covering health issues. (this does not include the higher, vet quality items for flea & tick treatment or hookworms--these items can be purchased at the receiving rescue's request). Non-profit rescues depend on your donations to make miracles happen with these dogs. To pledge a donation or learn more about how regarding how to sponsor a Beebe urgent dog, please e-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com for more information!
OUT OF STATE, 501c3 RESCUE ASSISTANCE
We have no funding other than what is stated above to subsidize the rescue of the dogs below. Volunteer powered transport assistance is available to Midwest and Northern state rescues. "Puppy Bus" -paid transport is available to East Coast rescues. Contact Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com for more details regarding transport assistance.
If you are interested in providing sponsorship funds for these dogs, please make contact immediately. Your $$$ donation offers improve every dogs chance of finding rescue and avoiding euthanization!
Roxy Boxer X and Lab X Mamacita are our biggest, ultra urgents right now. Both of these girls are in a real pickle -- their approved, emergency foster has ended and one has lost rescue due to a medical crisis on the receiving rescues end. I have spent a good deal of time with both of the girls. They are loving, awesome, sentient creatures that NEED rescue. Our volunteer group's collective hearts hurt for these girls. They MUST leave their emergency foster situation. The party providing this service is leaving for one month and the kennel WILL be closed. There is no other place for these girls. They were given emergency foster from within the volunteer group. We cannot approve foster from outside of the group. They are still city property and MUST have a 501c3 rescue backing them. They are ultra urgent.
Roxy - Boxer X
STILL NOT SAFE! MUST HAVE RESCUE NOW. REPEAT NOW! PLEASE STEP UP!
Roxy's original post ------->Roxy was brought to the shelter after camping out in front of a convenience store for three solid days. Observers noted that it appeared she was looking for someone that never came back. This girl is a complete sweetie, friendly with dogs and people, and very submissive. She has not had any docking performed on her. Estimate age of 1. Ribs were showing but her time in emergency foster has been of great benefit. She is now fattened up and an absolute STUNNING girl. She gives full on, fat tongue kisses. She is dog social with both big and itty bitties. She does not care for cats. This girl was given a "tail ender" reprieve but she MUST find rescue this round. Her time in emergency foster is up. How can we let this face leave the world? She's awesome.
Mamacita - Black Lab X with White Markings
STILL NOT SAFE! MUST HAVE RESCUE NOW. REPEAT NOW! PLEASE STEP UP!
Mamacita tasted 6 weeks of freedom and affection in doggy day care at her Cabot based kennel. The kennel director paid out of pocket to have Mama's severe ear infection treated while anticipating reimbursement upon transport to her rescue. Due to a medical crisis on the receiving rescue's end, safe haven for Mamacita is not to be. This friendly girl is dog social and VERY people friendly but does tend to want to be "queen of the throne" around the larger dogs. She has acted as the kennel mascot for 6 weeks, greeting customers at the door. It is with great regret that the kennel director must return her to the shelter but she has done everything she can to hold off on this decision. Mamacita MUST have a rescue commitment in place by Friday evening. Her temporary boarding is ending. She is so sweet and loving and will make a wonderful dog for someone if she gets the help she needs. Sponsorships for this girl are needed! She is roughly 2 years old and heartworm negative.
Itchy - Black Lab X pup
Rescue Commitment due by Sunday. Euthanization scheduled for Monday, August 20, 2007.
This baby needs some IMMEDIATE medical help. We believe he has sarcoptic mange but could have a flea allergy (loss of hair) --no way to confirm without having a skin scraping done. At this time of the year, seeing dogs with hair loss along the rump and legs is common. He needs a commitment by Sunday, August 19, 2007 but really needs to be pulled sooner so that some course of treatment can be started to give him relief from his itching. He's a sweetheart -- very reminiscent of recent Beebe AC rescue Lickorish.
Naomi - Shep X Pup
Rescue Commitment due by Sunday. Euthanization scheduled for Monday, August 20, 2007.
Naomi is a complete lover equipped with all the energy found in a young pup. Estimated age is 3 months. Can't get or give enough affection. She needs a commitment by Sunday, August 19, 2007.
Dakota Girl - Beagle X
Rescue Commitment due by Sunday. Euthanization scheduled for Monday, August 20, 2007.
Dakota Girl is dog social and friendly with people but visibly uncertain as to whether ALL people are going to return the friendliness. She needs some TLC and reassurance. Happy as a clam with other dogs at her side.
Commitment needed by Sunday, August 19, 2007.
Onyx - NewFi Pup
Rescue Commitment due by Sunday. Euthanization scheduled for Monday, August 20, 2007.
This big puffalump is all love, licks and happiness. Affinity for people, dogs and life. Let's keep it that way by finding her rescue. Commitment needed by Sunday, August 19, 2007.
ADDITIONAL DOGS FORTHCOMING TUESDAY EVENING. PLEASE CHECK BACK
If you can help any of the dogs above, please DO NOT HESITATE to contact Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com OR Jaxie at Beebe Humane Society BeebeHumaneSoc@aol.com

Answer:
Liana:
Any updates??? Did anyone find rescue? Please update Petfinder, too!
Thanks!!:D :D :D :D

Answer:
Roxy has rescue! My friend Ute Jolley in Allentown, PA, with Furever Homes is taking her. She will transport next weekend. YAY!
Mamacita is still URGENT. She needs to be gone by the end of next weekend as her temporary foster is going to Ireland for a time being and all electricity, etc, will be shut off.

Answer:
Liana:
Could Mamacita go with Roxy?
I can make a donation to your friend's rescue if she can take her.
Can you BEG??:D :D :D :( :( :(

Answer:
Hey Karen - Mamacita has a pending rescue in NY. Joy still needs to speak with them, confirm and they still need to go through the rescue checkout procedure, but it is looking good.
Roxy's rescue, SPICER, in Allentown, PA has actually forfeited their sponsor money and put it towards ITCHY in the new urgency post so that he can be given and treated with revolution. We thought this was very caring.
All four puppies, to my knowledge, still have no rescue.
