Yellow Lab at Beebe PTS Thurs 7/12 Pls Help me save herQuestion:I am new to the Lab forum but have been an owner and lover of Labs for 24 years or more. I would like to foster Sorry Sally at Beebe. Her PTS date is scheduled for Thursday. The shelter needs a rescue to commit to her by this evening. I have never fostered before but have adopted three shelter Labs. I am looking for a rescue that would like to add me to their foster homes. In doing so, I ask that the rescue commit to Sally by this evening with the understanding that I will foster her. It was suggested this would be the best route to take. No time like the present to get involved in fostering!! Anybody want me?? If you do, please commit to Sally and we will take it from there. Thank you everyone! Answer: Sorry Sally - Yellow Lab X MUST receive a rescue commitment by Wednesday. Thursday afternoon euth scheduled. Shot at 2007-07-11 Adult love Sorry Sally is just a wonderful mess! Incredibly affectionate and social, this girl will do anything for some rubs and love. Happiness is reflected in her eyes when she is around people, and her enthusiasm is contagious! Dog social girl would work well in any family setting. Commit to Sally no later than Wednesday night! Answer: Where is Sally? Have you contacted rescues in your/that area? This would be the first step for you! Answer: Sally is one of Beebee, Arkansas, dogs. Soops, who lives in Rhode Island, will foster her, if there is a rescue backing her up. Soops lives in Rhode Island and is asking a rescue close to her if they will. Do you know anyone who might take her into their rescue? All the dogs at Beebee are urgent and must have rescue commitments nwo. Her is the Petfinder msg. link on them.. http://forums.petfinder.com/viewtopi...137511&start=0 Answer: I have emailed five Lab Rescues..one in PA, MA, NH, AR and I forget where the other rescue is. Please isn't there anyone that can help save Sally?? I would really appreciate any assistance. She has hardly any time left. Even if I don't get to foster her, all I really want is to see her life spared. Answer: I e-mld. another Lab Rescue, too. Thank you everyone! She is just beautiful... Please email Patti Grenda from Maine Lab Rescue mainelabrescue@yahoo.com She is just wonderful and perhaps she can help you....I hope it is not too late....please keep us posted. Answer: I got your message. I wish I could help. Right now we have $70 to our name. There's no way I can afford to get her to you, and most of our adopters are here in Arkansas. If there's anything I can do to help a rescue closer to you get her to you, please call me (my mobile number is on the website). I have the bar exam in two weeks, but I will do what I can. Camille, how much would you need to help get her to Rhode Island? Is there a puppy bus available for transport? I think there may be? I could help out with funds if that would help to save her. Lily Answer: Thank you both! I sent Soops both of your msgs. I think what Soops needs is a rescue to pull Sally with their 501c3. She might need help with a little bit for transport, Lilly. I know she's trying to find a rescue right now to save Sally and then she will foster her in Rhode Island. Hopefully, we will know somethng soon. Answer: Lily thanks for your offer to help with funds for transport. As it stands now, Joe from SPARRO is willing to commit to Sally so I can foster her. Joe did stress that he is a small organization and does not have the funds to back any major vetting that Sally might need (ie: HW treatment). Of course, she could be HW neg. But we don't know that yet. Joe also wonders about people in PA accessing his site and wanting a dog fostered in RI. That might not be huge problem because this may actually end up Sally's forever home depending on how it all works out with my others. Joy from Beebe suggested a try a closer rescue so I have sent an email to Ann in CT. Awaiting reply from her. I am so thankful Joe was willing to get involved even though he doesn't technically have a foster program in place. What a great guy!! Thank you all! Still hoping for a happy outcome for Sally. Any ideas, suggestions or comments are always welcome. Answer: Soops: I offer my help, too! Praying and Paws Crossed for Sally and the others. Pray that Fontaine, another Ylw. lab Mix gets saved, too, along with Loki the Sheltie!! http://forums.petfinder.com/viewtopi...137511&start=0 Answer: Way to go and thanks to Joe. So glad you were able to pull this girl. Keep us posted on her. Answer: Patty... Sorry Sally is not pulled yet, but we're working with a few Lab Rescues. There is another Ylw. Lab Mix Girl called Fontaine, that NEEDS a rescue!!! Fontaine - Yellow Lab MUST receive a rescue commitment by Thursday night, July 12! Friday afternoon euth scheduled. Fontaine is a super friendly, young Yellow lab (on the snowy wheat side) that arrived at the shelter as an owner sign-over. He found a good playmate in Waffles and they are enjoying each others company. Fontaine appears to have been well cared for. It is unknown why the owners chose to get rid of him. He needs OUT. If you can help the urgent dogs above, please e-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com OR Jaxie at Beebe Humane Society BeebeHumaneSoc@aol.com UPDATE - 12 July / 2:00 AM CST OKAY ALL - FYI - I have received a lot of inquiries on numerous, but not all dogs. I am still weeding through e-mail. Dogs with FIRM commitments have been placed below the "SAFE" banner. The remaining dogs on the urgency list will either have their euth date statement intact or the word "PENDING"--indicating someone has stepped up but the jury is still out on whether it is a firm commitment. PLEASE note these remarks next to the dogs listings as it will mean the difference between life and death with respect to who still needs rescue. Apollo NEEDS RESCUE and financial backing RIGHT NOW! He was bitten by an entering, aggressive dog (not a fight -- he was clearly attacked) and the site absessed. His leg was swollen up like a log of salami this afternoon. I have him in the vet's office for an overnight and he has received an antibiotic injection but we cannot keep him there or continue treatment. Please read the updated information beneath his listing -- applicable as of late Wednesday afternoon. THE BIG DOGS HAVE TO MOVE! THERE ARE TOO MANY AND THEY ARE NOT SAFE. We HAVE to get them OUT. PLEASE - This has become a desperate situation for all. Please help find the BIG DOGS rescue!!!!! Dogs are NOW SCHEDULED FOR a THURSDAY EUTHANIZATION with unpictured additions scheduled for FRIDAY. PLEASE review the list below carefully and cross-post it as an updated version. Thanks to all of you for your outpouring of support!!!!! ------------------------------------------------->End Update There are currently 27+ dogs at the City of Beebe Animal shelter. The potential for negative "pack mentality" is VERY STRONG --normally resulting in injury to either dog or staff. Dogs featured below are listed in order of urgency. ALL LARGE DOGS are considered ultra-urgent and will be the first to go. Euthanization is scheduled throughout next week and cannot be avoided. Please read the entirety of this post in order to discern individual dog's rescue commitment dates as well as prospective pull, vetting and transport dates for out of state rescues desiring to tag. Frequently asked questions are also addressed in this post. Beebe Animal Control is a relatively unknown shelter in a small town north of Little Rock, Arkansas. Dogs are hidden away in a relatively remote, older location, surrounded by what used to be the city's landfill. There are a few cages and a communal yard located at this shelter. Overpopulation puts all dogs in danger -- with or without a euth date. As a matter of fact, the shelter is, quite literally, located on LANDFILL DRIVE. Dogs at Beebe AC have little, if any chance of adoption. They need your rescue help and they need it now! Currently, there is NO Web site for Beebe AC. I am still working with ACO to build the site. Unless already on file, proof of 501c3 rescue is required and must be faxed in to Beebe AC no later than the evening prior to a dog's pre-scheduled pull date. The TAG to reserve and PULL process is as follows: Step 1: You may contact either of the following individuals to confirm intent to rescue: E-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com OR Jaxie at Beebe Humane Society BeebeHumaneSoc@aol.com. Please DO NOT call Horace at the shelter. He is busy enough as it is and will refer you directly back to Joy or Jaxie. This only slows the rescue process down. Step 2: Once confirmation of intent is received, instructions and additional documentation will be sent to you for faxing to ACO Horace at the City of Beebe. Step 3: Once your 501c3 materials are received, local rescues may arrange to drive out and pull their dogs. Out of state rescues will receive pull and transport assistance, courtesy of Horace and other volunteers, to select vet/kennel facilities for dogs temporary boarding and preparatory vetting prior to transport. More information on the process and price is available by e-mailing humane_teens@yahoo.com LOCAL RESCUES - PLEASE TAKE NOTE - Direct pulls by local rescues must be pre-scheduled by Joy or Jaxie. In recent months, numerous individuals have bypassed protocol and attempted to pull dogs without pre-authorization and or contacted ACO by phone to attempt to expedite the process. Some were not authorized by any specific rescue, although passing themselves off as rescue. This has caused myriad internal problems with the rescue facilitation process. As a result, ACO Horace has stipulated that he must hear speak by phone or in person to core members of OUR volunteer group before allowing ANY local rescue to pull. Please respect the fact that this new policy has been put in place to ensure the Beebe dogs are in integral hands upon release . Following protocol by e-mailing Joy or Jaxie rather than bypassing us with phone calls to the ACO will expedite your request to pull. We are DESPERATE for sponsorship $$$ on these dogs! Beebe, AR is rurally located and part of the statistical plight of all southern dogs. The majority of rescue provided these dogs is exclusively out of state. Rescued dogs are usually headed out of state and require temporary boarding and vetting prior to transport. The standard and average cost of vetting and temporary boarding post-pull and pre-transport is $150 per dog, without any "surprise" costs incurred for covering health issues. (this does not include the higher, vet quality items for flea & tick treatment or hookworms--these items can be purchased at the receiving rescue's request). Non-profit rescues depend on your donations to make miracles happen with these dogs. To pledge a donation or learn more about how regarding how to sponsor a Beebe urgent dog, please e-mail Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com for more information! OUT OF STATE, 501c3 RESCUE ASSISTANCE We have no funding other than what is stated above to subsidize the rescue of the dogs below. Volunteer powered transport assistance is available to Midwest and Northern state rescues. "Puppy Bus" -paid transport is available to East Coast rescues. Contact Joy at humane_teens@yahoo.com for more details regarding transport assistance. If you are interested in providing sponsorship funds for these dogs, please make contact immediately. Your $$$ donation offers improve every dogs chance of finding rescue and avoiding euthanization! |
