I was seriously thinking about... Please, don't freak!Question:For a few months, I have been seriously thinking about getting a BC pup that would be ready to go in Jan. I think I can take care of one, and I always will, but Im thinking about Zoey when I made my decission (Well, not quite a decission, but Im pretty sure!) I don't think a BC would be great for Zoey and I right now. Because I would have to bring the BC to trails with me, and that may bother Zoey in her first trails. Also, with how well Zoey is doing right now, I don't think it would be good to take away from her training time to add another dog. So, I am 80% sure I am waiting until the soonest, this fall, before I get a BC. If not this fall, it will be next spring/summer. Please, don't freak out, as I am almost positive I wont be getting one yet, but man, oh man, I'd really like to have one. :) So, just thought I'd let you all know. Shay and the Crew. Answer: Sounds like you're thinking it through and not diving in recklessly. That's good. The puppy months/years can be grueling unless you end up with an extra special dog. There's always going to be some shuffling of your focus when you add more to the mix. Right now you have 1 focus, with another your focus has to be shared... Good luck with your decision and good job using your head along with your heart! Answer: I agree, no one is going to freak if you do your homework before deciding this is the breed for you. You'll be doing agility with him/her I suppose? Answer: I will, but as I said, I have plenty of time to get ready, there probably won't be a BC here anytime soon.. :) Answer: No freak outs here :) You sound like you're laying your ground work and working out the pros and cons. Good Luck!! Answer: I'm proud of you. How many of us jump into something because we are caught up in ther moment and simply HAVE to have it. Give Zoey the attention she needs and deserves, both of you will have fun along the way in the learning process. A new pup right now would set you and Zoey back a bit. It sounds to me like you have weighed the pros and cons and you have made an excellent choice in waiting. Answer: I agree with the others...I pm'd you too! Answer: Thanks everyone. Abby knows this has been a twisty turny road, but in the end, I have decided to wait. As I said before I just dont think it would be fiar to Zoey or the pup, because I would have to bring it with me to the trials, where it would be in a crate while I was running. So, this fall, or winter, we may look into a local (well, 5 hours away) BC rescue to see what we think. :) Thanks again! Answer: I think that's a wonderful idea!!! There are quite a few in rescues here. Many get that adorable puppy and have no idea how much active dog they've gotten themselves into! Best wishes with all of this. I always believe that things turn out just the way they are supposed to;) |
