Jill's thyroidQuestion:I'm having trouble remembering-Jill's panting and pacing. I can't remember if because it's over or under. I need to get her to the vet to get her thyroid checked but because I've been off so much with my mom, I'll have o see if I can try and take both her and Doxie Friday, but in the meantime until I talk to him, I was wondering do I increase or decrease her pill? Answer: I would not change the dose as perscribed but have it retested with a full panel. The thyroid if you pick the way wrong could either get too high, or crash completely. I really would wait for the vet. I can offer a suggestion but its better to just get it retested, and get the vets advice. Answer: I know one way she gets real lethargic and is cold and the other way she is real restless and pants. She has had thyroid problems for the last 7 years and her blood was checked in July and was ok. It seems every year or so it gets out of whack for no reason. Answer: Could be environmental or routine changes etc.. Cold, lethargic and hiding is low- but again- I would not self dose thyroid medication. Do you add vitamin C and E? This helps keep it more stable I have noticed. Considering that thyroid plays with the immune system, it would help if the immune system was more supported.. Answer: Just see if you can hang in there until tomorrow P3. Maybe you can just phone the vet and he/she can tell you what to do. I wouldn't increase or decrease anything right now. Answer: Yesterday she was really bad. It might be everything going on. I had the beddoor shut when the home health nurse came. I know Doxie and Jill won't bite but I didnt want to take a chance. She kept going in the bathroom and circling back and forth. I thought she was thirtsy so I went and got her a drink, no she wasn't. Then she got confused, went behind the tv stand, unplugged the satellite and kept right on going. She's never been like that. Then Judy and the kids came over and she was panting (she's got short wire hair and is usually cold) and pacing back and forth-go from one door to the next. I've never used vitamin C or E with her. I'll have to try it. I'll call the vet first thing tomorrow morning. I was gonna get her thyroid checked the first of October, but I'll see what he has to say. |
